CWS Construction in Palo Alto, CA | Spruce Contractors

We’re an independent CWS cabinetry contractor serving Palo Alto and nearby communities including CWS in Los Altos Hills, and we handle everything from full kitchen remodels to cabinet refacing and countertop installation. The thing that separates our CWS work here is simple: we’ve installed CWS boxes through Palo Alto’s design review and Green Building code process, not just in showrooms. That changes when we order materials, how we sequence the job, and what happens if the inspector flags a detail. Call (877) 265-5771 for a free estimate.

Why Palo Alto Residents Choose Us for CWS Service

Nate Calloway grew up in Hillsborough and has been running projects across San Mateo County long enough to know exactly what Palo Alto’s building department will ask before the first cabinet box gets ordered. We know CWS cabinetry the way a mechanic knows an engine: the Concord series, the Key Largo line, the Classic and Shaker door profiles in painted maple and oak. When a Palo Alto homeowner calls us about sagging cabinet boxes on an Eichler wall or drawer glides that gave out after two decades of daily use, we already know what we’re looking at.

We use CWS OEM hinges, glides, and touch-up finishes so doors and drawers stay aligned and match the original spec. We only go aftermarket on hardware when the original part is discontinued, and we’ll tell you when that’s the case before we order anything. We’re not manufacturer-affiliated and we’re not an authorized CWS dealer. We’re an independent CWS sales & service contractor, which means our loyalty is to the homeowner, not a brand rep. Common CWS Construction Problems We Solve in Palo Alto

  • Sagging or racked cabinet boxes on Eichler post-and-beam walls. The original framing on 1950s and 1960s Eichlers has often deflected over the decades, leaving the wall plane out of plumb. CWS boxes are square; the wall isn’t. We shim, sister, and scribe fillers so the cabinets sit true and the doors close clean.
  • Swollen or delaminating cabinet substrate behind sinks and dishwashers. Palo Alto’s rainy winters mean water intrusion through failing low-slope roof flashing or window flashing during an open remodel can get behind base cabinets before anyone notices. By the time the delamination shows, the box is usually compromised.
  • Hinge and drawer-glide wear from 15 to 25 years of daily use. We see this constantly in the original 1950s and 1960s kitchens around Fairmeadow and Greer Park where homeowners want to reface rather than replace. Sometimes the case is sound and refacing makes sense. Sometimes it’s time for new boxes.
  • Countertop and cabinet joint separation from radiant-slab movement. Eichler floors with radiant heat expand and contract, and that movement telegraphs through toe kicks and base cabinets over time. Joints open up, reveals become uneven, and cabinet runs shift.
  • Low vaulted post-and-beam ceilings that don’t clear standard cabinet heights. CWS semi-custom tall pantry and island cabinetry often needs to be built to specific dimensions to clear a beam line or a sloped ceiling. This isn’t a stock-box job, and it’s not something a generalist installer typically gets right.

CWS Service in Palo Alto: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Palo Alto enforces its own Green Building code and design-review process, and it’s stricter than what Mountain View or Menlo Park require. That changes how a CWS kitchen job actually runs. Before demolition starts, the city can pull cabinet specs, finishes, and even disposal and recycling plans into the permit review. On a rancher off Greer Road near the Eichler tract, our crew opened a 1960s kitchen and found the post-and-beam wall out of plumb and the radiant slab humped under the old base cabinets. We shimmed and sistered to a true plane, set CWS Concord boxes with a scribed filler to the beam line, and scribed a quartz countertop to the slab so the reveal stayed even. The job passed the Green Building inspection without a single re-order. That’s the difference between knowing CWS cabinetry and knowing how Stanford CWS service and Palo Alto installations get approved.

CWS Models & Products We Service in Palo Alto

We work across the CWS product line: the Concord series with its framed, all-plywood box is common in Eichler and rancher kitchen refits; the Key Largo full-overlay with dovetail drawers shows up often in Professorville and downtown remodels; and the Classic Shaker door profiles in painted maple and oak are typical throughout the Fairmeadow area and in Emerald Lake Hills CWS service work. On older CWS boxes, we’ll honestly reface and re-hinge when the case is sound. But we won’t bury water-damaged or racked boxes behind new doors. When the box has failed, replacement is the better spend, and we’ll tell you that directly.
