Silestone Construction in Mountain View, CA | Spruce Contractors

We provide independent Silestone fabrication, installation, and repair across Mountain View, and the one thing that separates our work here is that we template every slab around how Eichler and mid-century homes are actually built. Radiant slab floors, post-and-beam frames, and floor-to-ceiling glass all change how quartz counters need to be supported and seamed. If you’re planning a Silestone kitchen or bath project in 94039, 94040, 94041, or 94042, call (877) 265-5771 for a free estimate.

We’re Spruce Contractors, and we’ve cut, seamed, and installed Silestone across hundreds of Bay Area kitchens and baths. We’re not a manufacturer showroom or an authorized dealer program. We’re an independent general contractor that sources genuine Silestone slabs from authorized distributors and fabricates them locally. That independence matters, especially in Mountain View, where the right Silestone series for a Monta Loma Eichler is often different from the right series for a newer infill build near the transit corridors.

Why Mountain View Residents Choose Us for Silestone Service

We specify Silestone because it’s one of the most consistent quartz surfaces on the market, but consistency at the slab level doesn’t help much if the fabricator doesn’t understand the house it’s going into. Mountain View’s housing stock is unusual. The 1950s and ’60s Eichler homes in Monta Loma have post-and-beam frames and radiant heating tubes embedded in the concrete slab. Newer infill homes don’t. We work with both daily.

Nate Calloway, our owner, grew up in Hillsborough and trained through College of San Mateo’s construction technology program before running projects across San Mateo County. He’s been in enough mid-century homes to know which cuts will fight you and which materials hold up through the Bay’s wet winters. That’s the person who reviews your Silestone layout before we ever put a blade to the slab.

We also pair genuine Silestone with quality aftermarket undermount sinks, brackets, and sealants. The bargain hardware many builders use fails early. We’d rather spend a little more on support hardware than re-polish a chipped sink cutout a year later.

Common Silestone Construction Problems We Solve in Mountain View

  • Scorch rings and heat damage around cooktops. Open-plan Eichler kitchens have a tight workflow. The range sits close to the island, sometimes barely a foot behind it. Homeowners slide hot pans off the burner onto the Silestone, and quartz doesn’t forgive heat the way granite does. We see this pattern constantly in Monta Loma and resolve it with either localized repair or a section replacement, depending on how deep the resin has burned.
  • Chipping at sink cutouts and edge profiles. Mid-century cabinet boxes settle. When an undermount sink was installed on original cabinetry without proper support, the Silestone edge around the cutout carries stress it was never meant to carry. We re-fabricate the cutout, add steel support rails under the slab, and re-edge the profile so it stops chipping.
  • Etching and dull spots from acidic cleaners and citrus. Silestone resists staining well, but acidic products and lemon juice left on the surface will dull the finish over time. In Mountain View kitchens with floor-to-ceiling glass, UV exposure adds another layer: visible seams can yellow near those sun-facing windows. We re-polish the surface and re-seam where needed, using UV-stable adhesives for the glass-adjacent runs.
  • Cracking over radiant slab floors. This is the big one for Eichler homes. When a Silestone slab is set with rigid adhesive directly over radiant heating tubes, seasonal movement in the concrete transfers straight into the counter. The slab cracks. We template around the tubes and build support that allows for expansion. More on this below.
  • Poor seam lines from inexperienced installers. A Silestone seam should be nearly invisible. We see jobs around Mountain View where the seam was rushed, the color match is off, or the adhesive has yellowed near the glass. We re-seam with color-matched, UV-stable adhesive and finish it flat.

Silestone Service in Mountain View: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

In Monta Loma and other Eichler pockets, the post-and-beam frame and radiant slab mean a Silestone island or vanity cannot be anchored the way it is in a stick-built house. The framing doesn’t give you a solid wall to carry load, and drilling into the heated floor risks puncturing a radiant tube. So we template around the slab tubes and cantilever support off the beams instead. It’s slower work. It requires a thermal scan before we ever mark a cut. But it’s the difference between a Silestone island that sits stable for years and one that cracks when the slab moves seasonally.

On a Monta Loma Eichler with the original radiant slab, a homeowner wanted a Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold island in an open-plan kitchen that had no interior walls to carry it. Our crew mapped the embedded heating tubes with a thermal scan, built a freestanding steel frame under the island so nothing was anchored into the slab, and finished the Silestone with a supported 2-inch mitered edge to clear the post-and-beam sightlines. The result is a seamless island that never touches the heated floor and has held stable through two wet seasons.

That’s the kind of detail most generic quartz installers never address, because they don’t work in enough Eichler homes to know it matters. We do. For broader context on how we handle projects across the city, see our Mountain View service area coverage.

Silestone Models & Products We Service in Mountain View

We fabricate and install the full Silestone line that flows through authorized distributors here. The Eternal series, including Calacatta Gold, Serena, and Pearl Jasmine, is the most common request in Mountain View kitchens. We also work regularly with the Lyra series for smaller whitescale applications, Miami Vena and Stellar for homeowners who want more movement in the slab, and Lagoon and Blanco Maple from the classic quartz line for baths and vanities.

Our approach to parts is simple: genuine Silestone slabs, paired with aftermarket undermount sinks, brackets, and sealants that outperform the builder-grade hardware. We stock common bracket profiles and color-matched adhesives locally, which keeps Mountain View turnaround practical. You can read more about our Silestone work at Silestone sales & service.

Silestone Service Pricing in Mountain View

What you’ll pay depends on slab size, edge profile, and how much structural support the house requires. Eichler kitchens with radiant slabs often take more fabrication time than a standard cabinet-set install, because of the templating and support work we’ve described. Here are the ranges we work within for Mountain View projects:

Service Price Range
Countertop Installation $2,000 – $6,500
Kitchen Island Installation $3,000 – $10,000
Backsplash Installation $800 – $2,500
Bathroom Vanity Installation $800 – $3,000

Every estimate is free, and we provide written line-item quotes. No change orders after the fact. Call (877) 265-5771 to get a number for your specific layout.

FAQs – Silestone Construction in Mountain View

Do you handle both the Silestone countertops and the cabinets on a Mountain View kitchen remodel?
Yes. We run cabinet and countertop work as one project, which matters in Eichler kitchens where the cabinet boxes are original and the Silestone needs support tied into the framing. We don’t hand off countertops to a separate fabricator. For the depth on how this works, see Silestone sales & service. Call (877) 265-5771 for an exact quote on your project.

Are you an authorized Silestone installer?
No, and that’s deliberate. We’re an independent contractor. We source genuine Silestone slabs from authorized distributors, but we’re not tied to any manufacturer’s sales program. When we recommend a Silestone series, it’s because it fits your layout, not because a dealer told us to move inventory.

How long does Silestone countertop installation take in Mountain View?
Most Mountain View kitchens run three to five days from template to final install. Eichler jobs with radiant slab floors add a day for the thermal scan and custom support fabrication. We’ll give you a schedule at the estimate, and we stick to it unless the house surprises us.

Which Silestone models do you actually work with?
We fabricate the Eternal series (Calacatta Gold, Serena, Pearl Jasmine), the Lyra series, Miami Vena and Stellar, plus Lagoon and Blanco Maple. If you’re looking at a specific slab, bring us the name and we’ll tell you what to expect from the cut and seam behavior before you commit.

How much does Silestone installation cost in Mountain View?
Countertops typically run $2,000 to $6,500. Kitchen islands run $3,000 to $10,000 depending on structural support and edge profile. Backsplashes and vanities are lower, in the $800 to $3,000 range. Eichler homes with radiant slabs land on the higher end because of the support work. Call (877) 265-5771 for a free, line-item quote.
